Welcome to the Commanding Officers page, Within this area the present officer Derek Tyrrell gives his views and thoughts around the ministry of the band.

From the Desk of the Commanding Officer.

It is a month already since we arrived in Govan. A month where we have had an Opportunity of getting to meet you all and enjoy the fellowship of the Corps.

Much of our first month has been taken up looking at new quarters. We have viewed ten houses and have had the frustration of either loosing our choice because someone else offered more than we could, or it did not meet the requirements set down by THQ, However, as I write, we have just had word that an offer the Army has made on a house in Crookston has been accepted. Let’s hope everything now goes to plan for an entry in mid September. Whilst I talk about the quarters, Helen and I would like to acknowledge and thank the local officers for their tremendous help and support during this time which has been difficult both for the Corps as well as ourselves.

Over the past month, we have enjoyed getting to know so many of the Corps family and enjoyed travelling with the sections to Port Glasgow, Arran and Ayr. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to share in the ministry of the sections

This past Friday evening, we hosted a special event for the young people to raise funds for the forthcoming youth event in Aberfoyle. It is a delight to support such events, as both Helen and I are committed to sharing and working with the children and youth of the Corps.

It has been an interesting start to our ministry in Govan, but once we get our home sorted and begin to get involved in the challenges of the situation of the hall and the programme we are sure that God has got great plans for His people here and we are a vital part of these plans. We must always keep ourselves in tune with Him and open to His leading as we seek the way forward for the Corps and for the benefit of the community of people that we serve

We pry God’s blessing on you each in your own life and individual circumstances.

Derek and Helen Tyrrell
