 Sunderland Mokwearmouth Band

Govan Citadel Band were delighted to welcome Sunderland Monkwearmouth Band as their special guests during their recent band weekend.  This weekend, which was part of Govan Citadel Bands 125^th Anniversary celebrations, began on the Saturday evening with a Festival of music provided by Sunderland Monkwearmouth Band. The band started with the Festival March “Light-bringer” and finished with “Saints on Parade”.   During the programme, the band featured four soloists bringing items such as “The Magic Flute” and “Song of the Eternal”, as well as several other band items.  The Festival was supported by Govan Songsters.  As the Festival ended there was a challenge made to the congregation to put God at the Centre of our lives.

On the Sunday morning, the focus continued on putting God at the Centre and the band presented a very challenging ministry throughout their playing and spoken testimony. The weekend ended with a traditional Praise Salvation meeting. The band featured two further soloists and then  finished by playing “St Clements Variations.”  A great time of fellowship was had over the weekend and God was firmly in the centre of the celebrations.
